Stack Overflow Profile

The number of Stack Overflow questions was still declining in 2025, a fact that’s been shared a lot on social media, so I won’t repeat it here.

Many social media posts express how hostile they found Stack Overflow, and how happy they are now to have AI. They say the moderation felt strict and unfriendly.

I wonder a bit why this is the case. I was only actively answering questions on Stack Overflow for a few years, but like many other devs, I benefited greatly from the answers there. Also, people should remember it was a Q/A site, not a discussion forum.

Anyway, I can’t even remember having one single contact with a moderator, during my time there. At least not anything dramatic enough to stick in my memory.

In my profile until about two years ago, there was an all-time ranking shown among all users who had more than 200 reputation points. Stack Overflow removed this for all users not belonging to the top 400, see this post https://meta.exchange.com/questions/399661/stack-exchange-reputation-leagues-are-now-listing-only-the-top-400-users .

However, you can still find your ranking using the Stack Exchange Data Explorer with an SQL statement. And among the 815,000 Stack Overflow users with more than 200 reputation points, I ranked 8,321st, putting me almost in the top 1% of users (which is even better than I remembered).

Before even more of my profile disappears, especially given the undeniable decline in numbers, I would like to record the front page of my Stack Overflow profile here, showing my reputation, the number of my answers, and the corresponding top tags.

Maybe I’ll want to watch it again sometime in the future, maybe not, who knows.
